One Faith Boutique

August 6, 2014 By Kara Leave a Comment

In my lifetime, I can count the number of times I have won something on one hand. Prizes, giveaways, sweepstakes…there can only be two or three of us entering, and normally I STILL don’t win.

Well on my birthday last month, I was scrolling through Facebook and saw an ad for an online clothing boutique called One Faith Boutique. I liked the picture of the cute top that I saw and also liked that it was a faith based business, so I clicked LIKE on their page.

Later that evening, I got the sweetest message from the owner of this boutique telling me that they had been running a contest and that I had won it! She said that I was their 5000th ‘like’ and so I could spend $50 on anything in their store!

I was so excited as I loved the items in her store, and FREE is as good as it gets!

I picked out two items:

A Chevron dress and a pair of capri black tights.

As I am 5’10” tall, most dresses are NOT long enough to meet my standards for modesty, so the capri length tights are something I have been looking for!

The items arrive QUICKLY- 3 days after I ordered!

Customer service was amazing and Lara quickly answered any questions that I had.

The dress I ordered was a Medium and it fit true-to-size. The regular cost of this beautiful dress is only $38! I don’t know if you do much boutique shopping, but if not, trust me when I say this is a GREAT price for such a high quality item!

The tights were One-Size-Fits-All and are regularly priced at $10.00. They were soft and super comfy!

Once I connected with Lara and learned more about her company, I knew I wanted to support her by telling you all about it.  I suggested that I would feature her on my blog and told her that it is a faith based fitness blog. She said that she would send me a pair of yoga pants and a workout top so that I could review them! How awesome is this lady? She selected for me these two items:

They were super comfortable and affordable. The regular price for the pants was $15.00 and for the top was $12.00. I loved them both- the top is extremely flattering, and the pants were cute and functional. I would add that for those tall girls out there like me, these pants will not be long enough most likely.

You can read the story of this company here: https://www.onefaithboutique.com/our-story/ , which convinced me to continue shopping from this store for years to come!

Another thing I loved, they donate part of every sale back! Here’s what their website says: “For every order placed with us, a donation is made to The American Bible Society to purchase Bibles given to orphanages around the country. Donations will also be made the My Stuff Bags Organization
to provide new belongings, comfort and hope to abused and neglected
children placed in foster care each day.  We also donate monthly to
K-Love radio and Victory Boys Academy.  We are always looking for new
avenues to share God’s blessings.”
Amazing, right? And in case you are on the fence about whether or not you want to give this amazing company a try, they are offering NEW CUSTOMERS a $10 off $50 discount when you use the code OFB111 ! Amazing, right?

Go to their website: www.onefaithboutique.com and their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/onefaithboutique for more information. Shop there to support a small, Christian owned business, to get yourself some amazingly cute things, and to give back.

For me, a workout is improved 100 times when I’ve got energetic
music. It’s improved 1000 times when that music is delivering a Gospel

Rallying the Troops…

August 1, 2014 By Kara 1 Comment

Hello, all.

I’m writing tonight to rally the troops.

Meet my friend, Miranda.

Mother of two little boys and step-mom to one teenager.

Wife to Tim.

Transplant to NC from California!

Lover of life, laughter, fashion, and Jesus.

Over the last year, her family has experienced one setback after another. Her latest hurdle was a breast cancer diagnosis (btw- she’s only 30 years old).

She had surgery last Friday and if you follow the Wellness Witness Facebook page, you may remember me asking you for prayer then that the surgery would go well and that there would be no other occurrences of
cancer.

She made it through the surgery and did well, but last night received a call with her results. They said that cancer was found in two of the lymph nodes that were removed, which means she has a longer road ahead of her than was anticipated. She will go in soon for scans to see where else in her body the cancer is located, and she will have surgery again in a couple weeks to remove all affected lymph nodes. She also faces chemotherapy and possibly other treatments depending on what her scans show.

As you can imagine, this was hard news for her to hear.

I need to ask you for two things:
1- PRAY. While you’re praying, pray specifically for:
*Healing
*Emotional health as well as physical
*that the cancer has not spread further in her body than the affected lymph node area in her armpit.
*for people to step forward and help take care of her boys, bring meals, clean her house, and anything else that needs to be done.
*that she would experience PEACE through this journey and come out on the other side healed, whole, and knowing God in a whole new way
*Minimal side effects from chemo and other procedures that may be necessary
*Financial Provision

2- If you feel led, GIVE.
She is going to have a lot of medical bills and they would appreciate any single amount you can share.
Here is a link to a “GO FUND ME” page that her sister set up.

Miranda’s GO FUND ME page

Thank you in advance for all of you that will pray for her and for those that will GIVE. I’m blessed to know you and to have this outlet to ask for help when it’s needed. I’ll try to keep you updated as I can.

Happy Friday, friends. Make this day count!!!

Wellness Witness Workout #3

August 1, 2014 By Kara Leave a Comment

Here’s another workout for you to try. The only equipment you need is a
set of moderate hand weights/dumb bells (heavier=better).

*Remember, the style of workout is called REST BASED TRAINING. That
means you will push until you can’t keep going, and then you rest until
you’re ready to start back. You should be breathless, have burning
muscles, and be hot.
*Attempt these exercises at your own risk. Wellness Witness is not
liable for any injuries sustained while attempting these workouts.

(If you aren’t sure how to do any of these moves you can find videos on YouTube)

Set 1: (Each move will last for 30 seconds)
Plie squat
Spiderman Overhead Presses (alternate arms)
Jumping Lunges (without weights)
Cruch and Punches (Sit up and punch with weights on way up and the way down)
*Do the entire set 3 times, then rest 30 seconds.

Set 2: (Each move will last for 30 seconds)
Lawnmowers (Each side for 30 seconds)
Burpees
Squats with curls
Push-ups
*Do the entire set 3 times, then rest for 30 seconds.

Set 3: (Each move will last for 30 seconds)
Mountain Climbers
Flutter Kicks
Squat hold with pulses
Slow push-ups
*Do the entire set 3 times, then you’re done!!

Cool Down and stretch!

Our largest group this past week was 21 ladies. So exciting to watch these groups grow!

Back to Work…

July 29, 2014 By Kara Leave a Comment

Today is officially my last day of summer vacation.

This summer has been the best (and also the fastest) of my life.

I have learned a lot about myself and about my calling. I have watched my kids play and laugh and grow. We have slept in, we have stayed up late, and we have had FUN. The Summer was full of traveling, days at the pool, movie nights, and jumping on the trampoline.

I am so very grateful for a job that gives me time off in the summer and grateful for the 6 weeks that I had to be a full-time Mama. I’ve loved being able to launch the Wellness Witness Workout group, and also leading the Made to Crave Bible study at my church for the past 6 weeks. Having an hour or two each afternoon to work on the blog has been amazing, and I have realized that faith based fitness is absolutely an area that I am called to serve in.

This summer has taught me that sometimes, we just need to jump in even when afraid and that where God calls, God provides.

I don’t know what the next school year holds, or where I will be by this time next year. Of course I would love to see Wellness Witness expand and become a full-time ministry, but that may not be what God has in store for me. And I’m okay with that, too.

Fortunately, I LOVE my regular job as a School Counselor, and know that there is work to be done there, also. I hope to be able to continue bringing you new content at least several times a week and to keep actively posting on the Wellness Witness Facebook Page.

In case I haven’t told you this lately, thank you for joining me in this adventure. Thanks for your kind words, for your encouragement, and for your willingness to support this little ministry of mine. I am so blessed by each of you.

Love you!
