Big week!

July 6, 2015 By Kara Leave a Comment

Hey, friends!

Wanted to update you on what all God did last week.

First off, our LLC was officially approved! This happened a couple weeks back, but I hadn’t shared this with you yet, so I wanted to let you know. We filled out all the required paperwork, sent it in, and 5 days from the day I put it in the mailbox we received word that it had been approved. We were told to plan on a 4-6 week wait, so it was a relief and a blessing to get it back so quickly.

SO fun! We’re officially Wellness Witness LLC!

Once we had that in place, we were able to open our first business banking accounts. My husband has a friend who helped us get this set up and so on Thursday, all four of us went and filled out all the required paperwork.

I put in all of the savings I’ve got from my local fitness classes, and celebrated this milestone that God had brought us to.

It was also fun to do this as a family and to get to list my husband as my “employee”. 🙂

Then on Friday, a newspaper from a neighboring town ran an article on the Wellness Witness ministry and our bootcamp classes.

Reading about our journey over the past 11 months was such a testimony to God’s goodness and faithfulness and to how He is leading this entire thing. He is orchestrating events as He sees fit and in His timing.

I just get to show up and say “yes”. What a gift.

And friend, He has a mission like this for you, too. It may not be in fitness and it may not be something public, but He’s got a plan and a purpose that He’s calling you to. When you trust Him and step out in faith, He will do the work. He will. You just keep showing up and stepping forward when He tells you to.
Scary, yes, but totally worth it!

Monday Morning Motivation

June 29, 2015 By Kara Leave a Comment

I filmed this week’s Monday Morning Motivation video for you while on vacation last week. The night before I had watched a little boy and his Dad interact by the pool and God used it to teach me a great lesson.

Here’s the full story:

If you’re reading this in your email browser, you’ll need to click HERE to see the video.

Here’s the bottom line:
When He says STEP OUT, step out. But until it’s in HIS timing, WAIT on Him. WAIT.

So hard, but so necessary.

As always, praying for you and cheering you on!

By the way- did you see this week’s social media challenge “#bodyonmission”? If not, go back and read yesterday’s post and then join in the fun over on the Facebook and Instagram pages.

The #bodyonmission Challenge

June 28, 2015 By Kara 2 Comments

 Hey, friends!

I’m back from vacation, well rested and ready to make Summer of 2015 one to remember.

The past week away was good for my heart and for my spirit- God did some speaking and some moving and He’s helping to smooth out some places in my heart that needed it. I’m excited about what all lies ahead and revealing it to you in His timing.

We had a great time at the beach, and although I made some healthy food choices, I also chose to indulge and enjoy a whole lot of treats like this:

And this:

In case you’re wondering, that’s a doughnut with peanut butter filling, chocolate icing, peanut butter drizzle and a Reeses Cup on top. Yes. I’m serious. And I had one on two different occasions this week.

I’ll tell you more about our vacation later, but for now, wanted to fill you in on what I’m going to be doing this week on my social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram)

See, I truly believe that we are all bodies here on mission.

And the things that I put into my body, affect what it can put out in the way of energy, behavior, mood, strength, etc.

And friends, although I LOVED my time with my peanut butter chocolate piece of heaven, I did not love the way I felt physically afterwards. After a week of eating things that I don’t typically eat, and not moving in the ways that I’m used to moving, I was tired, irritable, sore, and bloated.

And since I believe that we are here to be ON MISSION and that my body doesn’t really belong to me but to Him, and that I’m not supposed to be an ornament but an instrument for HIS glory, I know that it’s time to get it back under control.

(If you want to read a blog post that further expands on these thoughts and adds some really beautiful ones, check out fellow Rev Instructor Claire’s post here).

So this week, I’m getting back to being a #bodyonmission and am going to document some of my food choices for you in hopes that it will spur you on to being a #bodyonmission, also.

Normally I hesitate to share with y’all my food choices because I truly believe that we should all be eating in the way that God teaches us to, not in the way that someone else says is THE way to eat. But for this week, I’ll be sharing some snapshots of food choices that I’m eating and my struggle journey to reign in some habits that I need to bring back into submission so that I can live, serve, and move with the energy that I was created to.

Will you join me?
1- Make sure you’re following me on either Facebook or Instagram.
2- Post pictures of your healthy food and use the hashtag #bodyonmission

There’s a good chance I may be giving away some prizes to someone who uses this hashtag really well this week.

We can do this, friends. This isn’t about a bikini bootcamp, or a 5 day detox, or a summer shred- it’s about stewarding our health well for HIS name and for His glory in the way that He leads. It will look different for each of us, but it’s worth pursuing.

Will you join me?

Rest…

June 19, 2015 By Kara Leave a Comment

Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” Mark 6:31
Rest is a really hard concept for me. I come from a long line of hard workers, do-gooders, and strong people who like to do do do and work work work. It’s my natural bend to hustle all day every day to try to do more and more.

And like Alisa Keeton says, if that hustle is HOLY (led by God, focused on His work), that is an okay thing. But for me, many times my hustle isn’t holy, it’s more about work work working for my worth.

It’s been a year of hard work.

Some holy hustle, and some plain old selfish, me-focused striving.

But God orchestrated it so that as I am entering into this new territory and closing the door on the previous chapter of life, we had planned a week away.

Before we ever knew what was coming He had planned for us a week of rest.

A chance to refocus.

To renew.

To remember my first calling as a wife and a Mama.

To spend time looking at this and marveling at His creation:

and spend time doing things like this:

So the goal is this: to disconnect.

To seek God’s face and His will during this time away.

To come back renewed and focused on the new mission ahead.

I hope to get back to a more normal schedule for writing and filming after we return, but am waiting on God’s leading and prompting.

Maybe you can recognize this same need- to unplug for a bit. Even if you can’t take time away, you can still take time to be STILL and to ask God what His plans are for you.

It’s hard, but time spent quiet with Him will far outweigh any tasks that you could be busily doing to check them off your list.

I hope this next week is a good one for you! I’ll be back soon and look forward to sharing with you whatever God lays on my heart.

Love y’all!
