10th Anniversary Trip to Jamaica

This is in no way health and fitness related, but in case you are
interested in a few highlights from our trip, I wanted to share it with
you here.

As you may have seen on our Facebook page and Instagram page, my husband and I recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. We decided a couple years ago that we really wanted to spend our money on memories and experiences more than on things, so we started a travel fund and put any extra money that we could into it each month. We saved up enough to go back to Jamaica, which is where we honeymooned.

My sister and parents volunteered to keep our kids

and we left bright and early last Saturday morning.

We love the beautiful water in Jamaica and the very ‘laid-back’ vibe that everyone has. To be quite honest it is the OPPOSITE of the way that my husband and I are natured, so it’s nice to be surrounded for a week by people who constantly say “no problem” and “yeah mon” and “take your time, mon”.

We stayed at the Sandals Grande Riviera which had so many construction projects going on at one time, it was a bit difficult to really rest too much. That part was unfortunate, but we made the most of our time there. We did a lot of resting, reading on the beach, swimming, eating, and listening to music.

Our favorite thing we did that week was probably one of our off-site excursions. It was called the “Wet and Dirty” ATV ride and we had SO much fun! We were covered in mud by the end, but it totally worth it.

Those are not freckles- that’s Jamaican mud!
We had one of the resort photographers take some pictures of us while we were there and these were our favorites:

While we were there I came down with some sort of flu-like bug, which wasn’t great, but it could have been worse. My kids and my parents all came down with the stomach bug, and as badly as I felt for them all being sick, I’m glad we didn’t get that!

Overall it was a good trip. There were definitely parts of the resort that I was not pleased with, but it was nice to get away and to reconnect for a little while. I realized that personally for me, 6 days was far too long to be away from my kids. I also realized something else: As much fun as Vacation is, it doesn’t compare or come close to how much I love my life at home. We are two very blessed people and I couldn’t wait to get home to our little house, our kids, our families, our friends, and our ministries and jobs here.

Jamaica was beautiful, but it can’t compare to the sight of all those that we love.

If you’re planning a trip to the Caribbean soon and are considering an All-Inclusive resort, our travel agent was phenomenal and answered every single one of my ridiculous questions on a daily basis leading up to the trip. Her name is Tracy Mueller and here is her website.

  1. That looks like such a fun trip (minus the construction)! My husband and I had our honeymoon at Sandals Grande St Lucian last April and loved it! One downside is that they closed the beach for an entire day and a half because they were filming a commercial. Luckily we got a free night voucher, but we might not go back early enough to use it.

They were also doing photos and video at our resort this time. one day the entire pool area was closed and the next day the entire patio closed. Although they didn't offer us any type of voucher or anything like that. I've heard that the St. Lucian resort is gorgeous!
